By visiting the shrine and its collections, one can realize that this place is more than just a museum. It continues to exist, as well, as a place where one can meet the past, but also the reality of human emotion.
Each year, on the 15th of August, hundreds of pilgrims gather on this miraculous little island to celebrate Mary's Ascension into the heavens. And so a historical continuity flows into a spiritual one, just as the inner beauty of this place is confirmed in the cathedral beauty of the bay in which it is situated.
